Aachen Cathedral will be the centre of attention throughout Germany tomorrow, Saturday, when the ecumenical service to commemorate the victims of the flood disaster begins at 10 am. Preparations have been in full swing for several days now and are now entering the final phase with technical, sound and set-up rehearsals.
For this reason, there will be no public tours of the cathedral today or tomorrow. The cathedral will close at 3.30 p.m. today, Friday, and will not reopen for tourist visitors and worshippers until 5 p.m. tomorrow, 28 August. We ask for your understanding!
ZDF will broadcast the event live on television. Anyone interested can also follow the broadcast in a live stream on the diocesan website (www.bistum-aachen.de). The coverage of the service will begin earlier. Already at 9 a.m. there will be a live blog where everything worth knowing about the proceedings and the events on site will be published. We also want to share this special day with you on the cathedral’s social media channels (Facebook and Instagram: @aachenerdomofficial).
